Applicable to testing of Automatic Level Control devices meant to be used in digital network-based equipment. Not applicable to subscriber-based level control devices, devices operative in the analogue domain or any kind of fixed level control within the network which may be part of an overall network transmission plan. Specifies performance constraints for network ALC devices, and where necessary, for specification of laboratory tests for an ALC device to ascertain that the constraints are complied with.
