Covers the digital interconnection of public ISDN/PSDN with private networks, with particular attention given to the overall quality of speech transmission for 3.1 kHz voiceband telephony by means of handsets, independent of all other types of services such as facsimile and voiceband data, provided by those networks. Intended to provide guidance for transmission planning purposes, both for a given network operator and for negotiations between involved network operators.
