Abstract

Specifies a Service Specific Convergence Sublayer operating over the Common Part Sublayer of an AAL type 2 connection. Its purpose is the conveyance of narrow-band calls comprising voice, voiceband data or circuit mode data. Defines packet formats amd methods for encoding the different information streams for bandwidth-efficient transport by AAL type 2, accommodates known methods of low rate audio encoding, silence compression and facsimilie demodulation/remodulation and provides for in-band signalling of narrow-band calls and control of the SSCS operating state.
