Gives a concept of the minimal set of OSI upper layer facilities for Basic Communications Applications (BCA). Facilities covered are encompassed by the existing ACSE, Presentation and Session Recommendations. Needs to be able to close and open connection-oriented communications with a peer and send and receive messages with the peer. Should satisfy most potential OSI applications.
