Purpose. To provide guidelines for verifying calibration of the equipment used in noise and vibration procedures.

Foreword. Calibration verification is the process of determining the ratio of a measurable quantity (voltage) and the phenomenon it is proportional to (acceleration, force, etc.) and verifying that it is within 10% (6% for microphones) of the documented transducer calibration constant. Regularly verifying calibration of transducers increases confidence in measurement quality.

Applicability. This test procedure is appropriate for verifying calibration of the following equipment: accelerometers, microphones, intensity probes, force transducers, impact hammers, and static force rings.
