The recommendation X.6 describes a connection-orientated multicast service, in the sense that the multicast user must first establish a connection (virtual call or permanent virtual circuit) before it is able to send or receive any multicast data. Defined in Recommendation X.6, is the multicast service designed to work over a variety of transmission technologies.
